Tell me something, how do you describe the feeling of 'high' to a 14-year old?
He doesn't smoke, nor drink, nor do drugs.
He thinks that a can of beer, or a shot of anything can make people drunk instantly, and drunk people cannot think.
It's like, picit butang, teros mabok, knockout golek2 kat lantai jadi bodoh.
That's what happens when you get poisoned.
Cerita dia macam gini...
Aku tadi gi rumah uncle aku kat Simei, where my makcik from KL turun and did her Secondary School class reunion there. She's 40-ish probably 50, but she's the youngest 40-something I know. (Age is just a number, remember?)
So when I got there, the reunion dah habis, and there was a bottle of red wine on the cabinet laa, siap with the wine bag all. So I was asking my cousin, "Eh, what's that? Wine eh?"
Cousin: "I should think so. Wine makes you drunk, right? And when you're drunk, you can't think, kan?"
Me: "Err, if you take one cup, tak la... But of you drink that wine, like you drink water, then maybe you'll get high. I've never seen people get drunk on wine before."
Cousin: "High?"
Me: "It's like when you take the first stick for the day, then that feeling is high... Alamak, you don't drink, you don't smoke, nor do you do drugs, then it makes describing HIGH very difficult."
So, someone tell me. What's the best way to tell a 14-year old, what "high" is, but without actually getting him to do it?

ask the 14 year old to do the choking game, or more like the headrush thingey.
ReplyDeleteslunt body forward and bend head down, or rather just squat and bend head down, take 20 very deep breaths, then ask the 14 year old to stand up quickly.
PS: make sure theres a matress on the floor or else someone gonna suffer internal head injuries.
